Hey Everyone, sorry for the lack of blogging... but six days after my last post I became a mom to a beautiful baby girl named Morgan!

I've put some updates on my facebook page. It's been a wonderful couple of months and I knew I'd love being a mom, but I didn't think I'd LOVE it as much as I do! It's simply amazing and if you've followed my story at all about our infertility you know it's something I've been waiting a long time to enjoy.

I am slowly starting to take sessions again, but it will be VERY limited. I want to spend as much time with my daughter as I can and also my husband's business has really grown in the last few months, so I am going to start helping him with that too.

Right now I have no available sessions until March, so if you'd like to book anything don't wait to contact me. Thanks and I look forward to capturing you soon!

Over the weekend Kristi and Jed were married here in Eau Claire, who would have thought in October you'd need air conditioning?! I'd much rather have that than freezing temps. Their day was beautiful and everyone was so great to work with, the day just flew by. I can't believe they are my final wedding of the year... this summer sure has gone by fast!

Over the weekend Sara and Craig were married in a big beautiful Catholic church in Marshfield. They were an absolute joy to work with and so was their bridal party and family! It made the whole day go so well and it was so fun. It really was a great wedding!

Melissa and Mike tied the knot over the weekend. Melissa loves anything Victorian, so they incorporated that into their wedding... it really made for a lovely day! One the best parts of their wedding was when they released butterflies in memory of Mike's mom, and one butterfly stayed on Mike's shoulder through the entire ceremony! It was so special.

Back in late June I wrote a post about my struggle with infertility and after years of trying and treatments we are expecting our little miracle in early December. After going through this experience and knowing the financial toll it takes I wanted to give my gift of photography to another family that had traveled the same journey. Yesterday I met Katie, Jeremy, and beautiful Stella. I was extremely touched by Katie's email and knew they'd be the perfect family to photograph. It always warms my heart when I meet another couple who wanted nothing more than a baby and finally after years of heartbreak got their family. So nice to meet all three of you!

The girls just run around having a good time, that even includes playing in the sprinkler... which probably felt pretty good considering it was 90 plus degrees during their shoot. We all survived the heat, but I think we were all dying to get back in our air conditioned cars at the end. So great to see them again!

The other night I photographed Steve and Delicia's maternity photos. I photographed them last fall too, so it's great to see them again, especially Delicia's cute baby bump! We did originally have another location picked for the shoot, but had to make a last minute change when the road was shut down and we couldn't get to where we needed to go. Luckily everything still went great and we got some wonderful shots! Enjoy!

Hi Everyone! Yesterday I announced on my Forever Photography facebook page that my husband and I are expecting our first baby early this December! We are beyond thrilled and it is truly our miracle child.

I have been mentioning that today I am going to announce a FREE session giveaway, but before I announce what it entails I want to give some background and why this giveaway has a lot of personal meaning.

My husband’s and my journey to start a family was by no means easy. We’ve spent the last several years battling infertility. Those years included endless testing, some of it very painful, many rounds of heartbreaking treatment, and lots of tears before having our first successful pregnancy.

Infertility affects roughly 1 in 4 couples, but most who deal with it suffer in silence, including myself. I learned from one of the nurses at our clinic in Minneapolis that studies show couples dealing with infertility experience just as much stress as those battling cancer or HIV. I definitely can attest to that statement, as can many couples.

Not only are you met with a great sense of loss every month you find out you’re not pregnant and have to start the process all over again or face more tests, the financial burden of these treatments is unbelievably expensive. My husband and I have had to make many great sacrifices in order to have a chance of a family. Unfortunately, Wisconsin is not a mandated state, so a majority of insurance companies do not cover treatments.

I know what we’ve spent could easily buy some really nice items or be a down payment for a very nice home, but nothing is more priceless than seeing your baby grow up. However, the reality is, this expense leaves a scar and financial sacrifices usually have to continue in order to survive. My husband and I know this first hand and often times non-necessary items are the first to go for families, which include beautiful professional photos of the little person you worked so hard to have…

We are in that category, but luckily I have a camera and will be able to photograph our baby. However, not many people have this skill, so knowing what I know now and have grown so much as a person these last few years, I want to be able to pass on my gift to another family or families who has traveled this path of infertility.

The "L" Family

Over the weekend I photographed Jess & Blake's wedding. It was such a stunning and unique wedding! They had their ceremony at Jess's family cabin, which is right on the Chippewa River. It was so beautiful out there and intimate. The couple also had so many personal touches sprinkled throughout their wedding. One of my favorites were the flower boxes at their reception. Blake made them from the barn wood of the barn that fell down on their new property. The barn fell just after we did their engagement photos in front of it. They really could not have asked for a better day.

I love this part of my job! Spending several hours with a new baby is so fun! Today I got to meet baby "A." I photographed his parent's wedding a few years ago, so it was wonderful to see them again. This little guy was unbelievably good. We didn't have to take any breaks, that is unheard of! He reminded me of the guy from the movie "Summer School." The one that slept through every class and every field trip they took, including a roller coaster. That totally reminded me of this little sweetheart. He also has a sweet big brother, he was so friendly and helpful today. Just a great shoot overall!

This newborn shoot wasn't suppose to happen for almost two more weeks, but baby "B" was in such a hurry to get here she not only came early, but she came so early mom and dad didn't even make it to the hospital before her arrival! Getting Bigger!

Over the weekend I got see baby "N" and take his 6-month photos! Wow, he's growing so much and getting cuter and cuter. He's such a good little guy and did so well for his photos. Hardly fussed at all. I know his one year photos are going to be here all too fast... it's always amazing how fast babies grow up.

Yesterday I got to meet baby Breck and take his very first portraits! He is one precious little guy and already so curious about checking things out. Breck's daddy is actually my chiropractor and a great one too! He's helped me so much... he's so good that even my husband started seeing him!! This past weekend, big boy "C," and his parents came by to get his 3-yr photos done. I can't believe I've been photographing him since he was 6 months old! He is very much a boy, through and through. He wasn't too crazy about being in the studio, so we went outside for some photos and we could barely get him to stop running and screaming with joy that he could play outside... but the trick worked! Wow, am I glad we got Jessica and Blake's engagement photos done on Friday... just before the big storm hit! Blake also plows snow... so hopefully he's been able to get some sleep, but back to their engagements. Jessica and Blake are such a nice couple! They are planning a summer wedding this coming June so what a great contrast to do winter engagements. They picked some beautiful spots including the property they recently acquired, it's the place they'll be starting their life together!

It's pretty hard to be in bone-chilling weather freezing your butt off and look relaxed and comfortable... but I think this lovely couple did a great job of that! I had on like 5 layers... but they braved the elements in regular tops. They are so cute... Delicia's smile is awesome! They've been married for a little over a year so I thought it was so neat that they took some great photos together after they got married, very rare... how fun, my husband and I should do that... Roberta & Brian - Married!

Roberta and Brian were married this past Saturday, my final wedding for 2010... and boy did it go out on a bang! They have the best wedding story that I have ever experienced in all the weddings I've ever photographed. I wish I could explain it, but it would turn into a book! But let me just say that it was a HUGE surprise for Brian and a big sweet gesture by Roberta... and a well kept secret by everyone involved for years! Wow... Miss "M" is six months old already! It always amazes me how fast babies grow up. She is just as cute as a button! She is also such a good baby, I could not believe how fast we did her session... but she seriously did not make one peep until her mommy but her back in her car seat. Very rare for that to happen. I can't wait to see her again in just a few months!

Last weekend I photographed my middle brother's family. My niece and nephew are so cute. It's become even more fun now that my nephew is really starting to talk full sentences and be interactive. He says and does the cutest things! I was laughing again just thinking about everything he was saying and doing during the shoot when I was looking at their images.

Over the weekend Nicole and Bob were married! What a lovely couple they make. Nicole was so happy the entire day, that when she smiled she really brightened the room. Everything went great and they really could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding to start their life together.

Trevor - Class of 2011

Wow this fall has been so much better than last year! I remember having to reschedule so many shoots, this year I've been very lucky. That includes my shoot with Trevor. He is in his senior year and also a big hunter, but luckily the shoot didn't interfere with that too much, it was a really fun session! Trevor and his mom were a real pleasure to meet and work with, and here is a few shots from the evening. Enjoy!

I've been photographing the "H" family for quite awhile now. In fact, their mom and dad's wedding was the first one I ever shot solo... I still use some of their wedding images for my sample work. It's so great to be able watch their kids growing up year after year. We also lucked out on another beautiful fall day, I just love the lighting this time of year!

I just got to photograph a very cute newborn boy. He did so well for the shoot, I was very impressed. He certainly is a bundle of joy for the new mom and dad!

Woodford Family!

I'm back! I had a great trip and a wonderful Birthday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I highly recommend the place.

Just before I left I photographed the entire Woodford family... we did the shoot at their family farm. So much history there, it was a great night!

Over the weekend we got together with my husband's family and did some photos. It was quite the task to not only take the photos, but also be in them! I had to make sure I didn't rub my make-up off on the camera when framing the shot... and then I had to hurry up and get into position before the timer went off... good thing that's not how I have to to do every shoot. All in all it was so fun to get together, especially since we got to go out to eat at a great restaurant afterward!

Alisa and Sam - Married!

Alisa and Sam were married September 18th! I know I'm a little slow in getting this up, thanks so much for your patience. Back to their wedding, which was awesome! I was also very surprised by how great they did for photos!! Every time I met with Alisa and Sam before the wedding they both seemed quiet and reserved, but on their big day they total let loose had fun and as a result got some stellar shots!! Congrats you two!

Dancing with the Eau Claire Stars!

On Friday evening the Eau Claire Children's Theatre held their second annual "Dancing with the Eau Claire Stars," fund raising event. It was another great show! I have so much admiration for all of the performers who are brave enough to go through the long hours of training and then perform in public. They all did great and should be very proud they helped support a wonderful organization in the Eau Claire community!

I'm very excited for Lacy & Mike's wedding. It's this winter at a historic building in St. Paul. I can't wait to photograph their wedding using that wonderful architecture as a background! So I met with them yesterday for their engagements. Lacy did a great job picking a location. It was a spot I haven't photographed yet, so it's always fun to go to a new place. They are also such a nice couple, it always makes the shoot that much easier and fun!

I love newborn shoots! They are so tiny, new, and cute. This little guy was no exception. It was so funny when we were trying to get him to sleep.. he seemed to have no interest in that at first. Instead of falling asleep he just laid there with his hands folded over his chest watching us. It was beyond cute! Congratulations to their wonderful new addition!

I can't believe this little guy is already two! It seemed like only yesterday I was taking his baby photos, and I can remember that session too! It's so fun to be able to watch and capture children as they grow and change. At his one year photos he was barely talking and walking... now first thing he said to me was "Hi Kathy!" and then took off running! So fun!

This week I met a lovely little 1-year-old girl! She looked so cute in her tutu and headband, I just loved it! Although I don't think she was as crazy about it as her mom and I, but that's how it goes at that age.

Baby "G" - 3 months!

Wow does time fly by! It seemed like it was only yesterday when I was photographing Baby G's mommy when he was in her belly... and now here he is 3 months old already. He is a cutie. I got the biggest kick out of his expression. We were trying all kinds of things to get a reaction from him and he would just look at us like we were crazy... too funny!

Sara & Craig - Engaged!

Earlier this week Sara and Craig came by for their engagements. I think it will be a pretty memorable night... it all started with a State Trooper pulling them over. Luckily the Trooper is a romantic and let them off and even said congratulations! So everything else from that point on was a breeze... wonder what their wedding day will bring???

Mary Ellen and Greg tied the knot on Saturday August 14th. Everything came together so nicely for the two... which I knew it would since Mary Ellen made sure every detail was in place :)
They were a wonderful couple to work with, both on their engagements and their wedding day! I certainly hope the rest of their lives are just as happy. Congratulations you two!

Last Friday Liz, Corey, & I met for their engagements... speedy engagements too. You'll see why in the last photo. We managed to squeeze some photos in between storms. Unfortunately we couldn't reschedule the shoot since they live in Colorado... but they really warmed up fast to the camera and while it may have been a short shoot, it was still sweet!

This morning Ava and Evan came for a visit. Evan just celebrated his first birthday! Happy Birthday! Thankfully we did the shoot in studio, weather was not very cooperative today. Both kids did great, but Evan is definitely all boy! Myself along with the assistants (A.K.A. Mom and Aunt) have the sweat marks to prove it!

This week Kayla came for her senior photos.. it was another hot night! I can't wait for a break in the humidity, but Kayla handled the heat & mosquitoes really well... despite the fact she had some rough terrain to maneuver for part of the shoot. Great job!

Jessica & Kiel - Married!

Jessica and Kiel got married Saturday! I was so impressed with their wedding party. Everybody came on time and we even ran 10 minutes ahead of schedule. When I get weddings like those it makes the entire day flow so smoothly. Everything looked great too! Their cake was phenomenal, I even had two pieces it was that good!! Something Sweet by Jenny did the cake, I would highly recommend her!

Over the weekend Tyler & Laura did some engagement photos with me. The morning started out a little damp and quite humid, but it was still an awesome shoot! On to Karissa... What a pretty girl! We did both some studio photos and then headed outside for some natural light shots. I always love when people tell me they are horrible at taking photos and then I'm blown away by how well they did and how great the shots look. What a romantic wedding yesterday! Jamie & Mary really had a beautiful day... some might consider a few rain sprinkles during the ceremony a nightmare, but I really think it made the moment more charming. It's also suppose to be good luck, so it was a win/win situation. Luckily we did all of the photos before the ceremony so as soon as they said "I do," mother nature could have her way and everyone else headed inside for an awesome dinner and dance. I'm also very jealous of Jamie and Mary... they're on their way to Hawaii for TWO weeks! How great! Enjoy the trip!

Jason - Class of 2011

I first met up with Jason last week, but sometimes things don't always go as you planned. So we did his session in 2 parts. The first night dark clouds rolled in and we received quite the downpour and then as they left their car died in our driveway... so I towed it back up to our house (we have a 600 ft. driveway) and after awhile we finally got the car started again. So Jason and I got together to finish his shoot on Sunday and luckily nothing out of the ordinary happened, but what a good story he'll have to tell people about his senior photos! Enjoy!
